Biography
Dr. Ghalib obtained his B.Sc (H.Sc) and MD from Sultan Qaboos University in 2004. Then, he acquired his MRCS Membership of Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2010. He completed a residency training in urology and obtained his French board certificate DES in 2014. Subsequently, he joined a 2-year structured fellowship at the same university with specialization in oncological and minimally invasive urology and obtained his French DESC certificate as well as the European FEBU certificates in 2016. Following which, he joined back at Sultan Qaboos university hospital and helped in introducing a number of laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeries in oncological and non-oncological urological diseases. With his major contribution, the urology unit at SQUH became the country reference in this sub-specialty.
Dr. Ghalib’s areas of expertise include endoscopic urinary tract stones interventions (URS, flexi URS / RIRS, PCNL ), Shock wave treatment of urinary tract stones (ESWL), urological cancer surgeries ( radical nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy , nephro-uretrectomy, orchiectomy, TURBT , cystectomy , prostatectomy), laparoscopic surgeries in urology ( Lap nephrectomy , Lap pyeloplasty , Lap renal cyst marsupialization , Lap nephro-uretrectomy, Lap nephrolithotomy, Lap uretero-lithotomy), endoscopic prostate and urethra interventions ( TURP, TUIP, TUVP, IU) , surgeries for testicular diseases (hydrocele , varicocele , epididymal cyst), cystoscopy and work-up of hematuria and lower urinary tract symptoms.
