Biography
Dr. Shaden Al Riyami is the establisher of the phonosurgery service in the Sultanate Of Oman. She performed the first of its kind successful operation to treat vocal cod atrophy in 2021.
The Royal College of Surgeons has awarded Dr. Shaden Al Riyami “The David Howard Award”, in 2017, in London, for her research in transnasal oesophagoscopy.
To be the first surgeon in the Middle East to receive the David Howard Award.
Dr. Shaden Al Riyami graduated from the Sultan Qaboos University medical school in 2009.
She then joined the ENT (otolaryngology) Oman medical specialty program in the period from 2010-2016. She was successfully certified with both the otolaryngology Oman Medical Specialty Board and the otolaryngology Arab Board.
Dr. Shaden Al Riyami is skilled in treating vocal cord paralysis, vocal cords spasms, various benign and malignant vocal cord lesions, change in voice, voice femininization and masculinization surgeries and congenital vocal cords disorders.
She also skilled in treating general ENT conditions and performs different ENT and head and neck surgeries.

After her graduation she did her fellowship in the United Kingdom in Newcastle Upon Tyne in phonosurgery. Dr. Al Riyami obtained special skills in the field and certified with the following:
