Biography
Muscat Private Hospital is pleased to announce joining of Dr Mohamed Redha Moosa Al Lawati as Consultant Internal & Respiratory Medicine. Dr. Mohammed Redha was trained in Internal, HIV and Respiratory Medicine in St. Vincent’s Hospital and St. George’s Hospital Sydney, Australia and was trained in Respiratory Medicine at Royal Brompton Hospital, London.
Dr. Al Lawati has served in various capacities in Oman and has served in Royal and Al-Nahdha Hospitals. Dr Al Lawati has played a key role in developing Respiratory, HIV, TB and Internal Medical services in Oman. He was driving force in developing HIV treatment centers all over Oman. He has played key role in development and review of National Guidelines for the treatment of HIV/AIDS. He participated in the PMTCT services in Oman and, as National AIDS Program Manager, has closely monitored the progress.
Dr. Al Lawati was head of Internal Medicine in Al Nahdha Hospital during which time the in-patient service was re-established in 2009. He has also served as Director of Al Rahma Hospital and Head of National Tuberculosis Control Program. He has participated in developing guidelines for control and treatment of TB, DRTB and LTBI.
Dr. Al Lawati was the founding member of Oman Respiratory Society and has served as its Vice President. He has participated in establishing Asthma clinic in Primary Health Care Centers and developing National Guidelines for treatment of Bronchial Asthma.
Dr. Al Lawati has served as a member of various committees in the hospital, regional and national level including Infection Control Committee.
Dr. Al Lawati has participated in the regional and global WHO meetings for TB elimination especially in low incidence countries. He has served as a member of WHO LTBI Task Force for treatment of Latent Tuberculosis infection (LTBI) andMember, WHO Global Advisory Committee for Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV Infection, Geneva.
Dr. Al Lawati has participated in teaching of undergraduate students and has been awarded as one of the best clinical tutors by Sultan Qaboos University. He was the focal point for GP training in Muscat region from 2005 to 2009. He has actively participated in the training of doctors, nurses and other health care workers in the management of Asthma, HIV and Tuberculosis. He is an expert reviewer for Sultan Qaboos University Journal.
