Muscat Private Hospital (MPH) has made a historic breakthrough in Oman’s private healthcare sector by successfully performing a Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR)—a highly complex and life-saving vascular procedure—on a critically injured road accident victim. The surgery, conducted on May 3, 2025, marks the first TEVAR performed in a private hospital in Oman. 8TH May , 2025 patient went home. The patient, Mumtaz Ahmed, 38, suffered a severe aortic tear along with multiple injuries including rib fractures, spinal damage, and liver trauma following a road accident on April 25 in Kalba, Musandam. After initial stabilization at a government hospital, he was transferred to Muscat Private Hospital, Baushar, for advanced surgical intervention due to capacity limitations at the public facility.

The minimally invasive procedure involved inserting a vascular stent via a catheter to repair the torn aorta – an injury that is typically fatal without immediate intervention.
