Biography

Dr Tawfiq Al Lawati is one of the Omani pioneers in the field of paediatrics and the first pediatric gastroenterologist in the country. He worked in all the disciplines of Paediatrics during his training in Oman and subsequently did his fellowship in paediatric gastroenterology in Brisbane, Australia. Upon return to Oman, he established gastroenterology services in the country.

Dr Tawfiq has done his basic training in general Paediatrics and continued looking after all general paediatric patients throughout his carrier. He has specialized in Pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. He is trained with extensive experience in pediatric endoscopy in addition to all gastroenterology and liver disease in children.

Dr.Tawfiq has a wide interest in all food allergies, food intolerance, constipation and diarrhea issues, all types of abdominal pains. Moreover, he is extensively experienced in liver disease including acute and chronic hepatitis in addition to liver transplant.

Achievement & Awards

Dr.Tawfiq obtained the fellowship certificate from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health from the UK and has accredited endoscopic training by the Joint Committee of Endoscopy training in Australia. He also has been awarded Masters in Public Health in Community Nutrition from the University of Queensland, Australia.

Dr.Tawfiq is well known amongst his peers in the Arab Gulf Region and internationally through his participation in the major conference.

He has presented in many local and international conferences in paediatric gastroenterology.
