Biography:

Dr. Anna Rajab is a pioneering Clinical Geneticist and Pediatric Specialist with more than 50 years of experience in healthcare and medical genetics in the Sultanate of Oman. A graduate of Kiev Medical University (1972), she played a key role in establishing Oman’s first Neonatal Service Unit at Khoula Hospital and later contributed to the development of neonatal and pediatric services at the Royal Hospital.

She earned her Diploma in Child Health (Dublin), Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (London), and a PhD in Medical Genetics, specializing in genetic blood disorders, congenital anomalies, and population genetics.

Dr. Rajab led the establishment of Oman’s National Program for the Control of Genetic Blood Disorders and Genetic Counseling Services and was instrumental in developing the National Genetic Center. She has published over 100 scientific papers and served as a consultant to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Union Research Commission.

Her contributions have been recognized with the WHO Award (2005) and the Hamdan Award for Distinguished Personalities in the Arab World (2012).
