About Dr. Ahmed

Dr. Ahmed is the Head of the ENT Department at Muscat Private Hospital. He has 28 years of experience in ear, nose and throat medicine and surgery, including more than 20 years practising in the Sultanate of Oman.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from Cairo University in 1995, and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Otolaryngology in 1999 and an MD in Otolaryngology in 2003. His principal clinical interests are rhinology — the medical and surgical management of nasal and sinus disease — and otology, covering diseases of the ear, hearing loss and balance disorders.

Dr. Ahmed diagnoses and treats the full range of ENT conditions in adults and children: congenital problems, trauma, inflammatory and infectious disease, and tumours. His surgical practice spans routine procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy and grommet insertion through to reconstructive ear surgery, functional endoscopic sinus surgery and laryngeal procedures. He also manages the full range of ENT emergencies, including foreign body removal, control of nasal and throat bleeding, and reduction of nasal fractures.

Alongside his clinical work he maintains an active interest in research and international publication. He was named Best Researcher in Oman by the Ministry of Health in 2019, and currently serves as an editor of the Egyptian Journal of Otolaryngology. He is a member of the Egyptian Society of Otolaryngology and the Gulf Society of Otolaryngology, and consults in both Arabic and English.
