About Dr. Farid

Dr. Farid is a Senior Specialist in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Muscat Private Hospital, with more than 40 years of clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of kidney disease, hypertension, and general internal medicine. He has cared for patients at Muscat Private Hospital since 2016, covering outpatient nephrology and internal medicine clinics as well as inpatient care.

Dr. Farid graduated top of his class in Syria's 1973 Baccalaureate before completing his Doctor of Medicine degree at Aleppo University in 1979. He went on to complete a Certificate of High Postgraduate Education in Internal Medicine at Aleppo University in 1982, and in 1984 earned the Syrian Board Certificate of Specialty in Renal Disease, following further training in the Renal Unit at St. James's University Hospital in Leeds, UK.

He began his nephrology career establishing and running the first hemodialysis unit in northern Syria, at the Renal Unit of Aleppo University Hospital, in 1980. Over the following three decades in Aleppo, he built an extensive career as a consultant in nephrology and internal medicine, serving as Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at Shehan Hospital (1986–1994), Head of the Renal Unit at Ibin Rished Hospital, and Director of the Aleppo Health Affairs Directorate (1994–2000). He went on to found and manage his own private hospital, Al Farabi Hospital, in Aleppo, and later served as Senior Consultant and Head of Nephrology, Dialysis, and Renal Transplantation at the Surgical Kidney Hospital in Aleppo (2005–2013).

Dr. Farid relocated to Oman in 2014, where he practiced as a nephrology specialist at Al Noor Family Center before joining Muscat Private Hospital in 2016.

Alongside his clinical practice, he is a founding member of the Syrian Society of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation and a member of several regional and international nephrology and diabetes societies, and has presented research on renal disease at numerous regional and international congresses. He believes patients can maintain a good quality of life despite chronic disease, and is committed to guiding each patient toward the right course of care.
