About Dr. Tariq
Dr. Tariq is a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 39 years of experience spanning both adult and paediatric orthopaedics. He spent more than 30 years at Khoula Hospital, one of Oman's leading orthopedic institutions under the Ministry of Health, treating the full range of adult and paediatric orthopaedic conditions — from everyday back, neck, and knee pain to complex road traffic accident trauma, congenital deformities, and neuromuscular conditions in children.
Over his career he has performed intramedullary nailing of the femur and tibia, plating for the full range of adult fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome surgery, and fixation of complex foot fractures, alongside equivalent paediatric fracture care. In addition to his base at Khoula Hospital, he regularly travelled to operate at Sultan Qaboos Hospital, Salalah, on assignment from the Ministry of Health, extending specialist orthopaedic care beyond Muscat.
He holds an MBBS, a Diploma in Orthopaedics, and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), and is a member of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ireland.
Dr. Tariq has served as Chairman of AO (the international AO Foundation trauma and fracture-fixation organization) in Oman, conducting numerous AO Switzerland courses for surgeons in the country. He was appointed by the University of Iowa Ponseti International Clubfoot Center, USA, as Oman and Middle East Coordinator for the treatment of clubfoot using the Ponseti method — a role reflecting international recognition of his expertise in correcting limb deformities in children. He has also taught undergraduate medical students at Sultan Qaboos University for over 15 years and continues to teach postgraduate orthopaedic trainees.
