Advanced Interventions

Welcome to the Department of Interventional Radiology, where we specialize in advanced, minimally invasive techniques that provide effective solutions for a variety of medical conditions. Our team of experienced interventional radiologists is dedicated to delivering non-surgical treatments that enhance patient outcomes and improve quality of life. Most of these procedures are performed in the hospital's Cath Lab (Catheterization Laboratory), a dedicated image-guided procedure suite.

Services & Treatments Offered

  • Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) and Adenomyosis Treatment

a non-surgical procedure that treats uterine fibroids by blocking the blood vessels that supply them. A catheter is inserted into the femoral artery and guided to the uterine arteries; tiny particles are injected to obstruct blood flow, shrinking fibroids and relieving heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pain. Uterine artery embolization is also used to treat adenomyosis.

  • Varicocele Embolization

for men experiencing sub-fertility due to varicocele, a catheter is guided to the affected veins in the scrotum to block abnormal blood flow, relieving pressure and improving sperm quality and fertility prospects. Also used to treat symptomatic scrotal varices causing testicular pain and discomfort.

  • Varicose Veins Treatment

minimally invasive techniques including endovenous laser therapy (EVLT), radiofrequency ablation, glue closure and sclerotherapy, closing off or removing damaged veins to improve circulation and relieve pain and swelling in the legs.

  • Peripheral Arterial and Venous Interventions

angioplasty and stenting for peripheral artery disease (PAD) and venous disorders, opening blocked arteries to improve blood flow to the limbs and reduce complications.

  • Dialysis Access Intervention

creating access points for long-term dialysis patients via arteriovenous fistula (AVF) creation or catheter placement, for efficient dialysis with minimal complications.

  • Bleeding Embolization

an emergency technique that targets and stops the source of internal bleeding, applicable to sites including the gastrointestinal tract and pelvis, to stabilize patients quickly.

  • Hepatobiliary and Renal Interventions

interventions for liver and kidney conditions, including bile duct drainage, kidney/ureter obstruction relief, abscess management, and tumor treatment via chemoembolization and ablation.

  • Tissue Biopsy and Fluid Drainage

percutaneous biopsies for diagnosis of tumors and infections, plus fluid drainage for abscesses and effusions.

  • Port Cath Insertion for Chemotherapy

insertion of port catheters for chemotherapy patients, giving reliable, low-discomfort bloodstream access throughout treatment.

  • Peripheral and Central Line Insertion

placement of peripheral and central venous catheters for safe, effective delivery of medications, fluids and nutritional support.

Precise Image-Guided Procedures with Minimal Intervention

Some conditions require a tissue sample, fluid drainage or reliable access for treatment before a diagnosis or treatment plan can move forward. Our Interventional Radiology team performs minimally invasive procedures using ultrasound, CT or fluoroscopic guidance for precise placement and treatment.

Procedures can include tissue biopsy, drainage of abnormal fluid collections and placement of vascular access devices such as ports for chemotherapy.

Minimally Invasive Treatment for Fibroids & Adenomyosis

Heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pressure or persistent pain may be caused by uterine fibroids or adenomyosis. Our Interventional Radiology team provides image-guided treatment options for selected patients who may benefit from a minimally invasive approach.

Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) works by reducing the blood supply to fibroids through a small catheter, helping shrink the fibroids and manage related symptoms without open surgery.

Minimally Invasive Treatment for Varicocele

A varicocele is an enlargement of veins around the testicle that may cause discomfort and, in some men, be associated with reduced fertility. Our Interventional Radiology team provides varicocele embolization as a minimally invasive treatment option.

Using image guidance, a small catheter is directed to the affected veins so abnormal blood flow can be blocked without conventional open surgery.

Advanced Treatment for Varicose Veins & Venous Disease

Visible varicose veins, aching, heaviness or swelling in the legs may be signs of abnormal venous circulation. Our Interventional Radiology team offers minimally invasive treatments designed to close or treat damaged veins and improve venous circulation.

Treatment options may include endovenous laser therapy, radiofrequency ablation, glue closure or sclerotherapy depending on the vein condition and clinical assessment.

I Have Poor Circulation / Blocked Blood Vessels

Reduced blood flow to the legs or other areas may be caused by narrowed or blocked blood vessels. Our Interventional Radiology team provides minimally invasive vascular procedures to assess and treat selected arterial and venous conditions.

Using catheter-based techniques, procedures such as angioplasty and stenting may be performed to help restore blood flow without conventional open vascular surgery.
